Hiring Davenham Methodist Church Halls

There are 2 rooms at the church for individuals or groups to hire – the Main Hall and the Classroom.  Whichever room you hire, you have use of the kitchen, the equipment in it and a selection of cutlery and crockery.

 The Main Hall is 40ft x 25ft (12m x 7.5m) with a wooden parquet floor, a small dais to the left of the stage curtains and a digital projector and retractable screen. It is big enough to contain most bouncy castles (but, if you intend to hire one, check with your supplier that his fits and that he has full public liability insurance cover!)

The Classroom is 20ft x 12ft  (6m x 3.5m)  with carpet tiles on the floor, doors to the entrance hall and the Main Hall and a service hatch into the kitchen.

The Kitchen is 15ft x 15ft  (4.5m x 4.5m)  and is equipped with 2 stainless steel sinks, hot water immersion heater, double cooker, 4 ring hob, refrigerator, 2 microwaves and 3 large kettles.  The First Aid Kit is kept in the kitchen.
There is a serving hatch to the Classroom and a door leading to the Main Hall through a lobby.
Disabled Access.  All rooms are on the same level so there are no steps to negotiate.  There is a disabled ramp to the main entrance door and a disabled ramp from the emergency exit in the Main Hall to the car park.
The disabled toilet is off the lobby between the kitchen and the Main Hall.
Car Park. There is space for at least 20 cars in the church car park and on the driveway alongside the church.

Our standard Terms and Conditions of Hire read as follows:
  1. Please ensure that no-one enters rooms that you have not booked.
  2. Feel free to use the tables, chairs and other equipment from the new store room opposite the kitchen, but please return everything to their proper places (see photos on the walls) before you leave.
  3. If you do make a mess for any reason, please clear it up before you leave so that the premises are neat and tidy for the next person. There are brushes and a vacuum cleaner in the store by the emergency exit.
  4. You may use the crockery (approx 30 plates, cups and saucers) from the first top cupboard on the left in the kitchen and the cutlery in the drawers below. Equipment from other cupboards must not be used.
  5. The Methodist Church does not allow alcoholic drinks on its premises and gambling requires the prior approval of the Church Council. Please do not cause us any embarrassment.
  6. If you do encounter any problems, please report them to John or Chris Durston as soon as possible so that action can be taken to put them right.
  7. Finally, before you leave, please ensure that the rooms are as you would wish to find them and all lights are turned off, including the one in the car park, (but not the security lights). If you have been given a key, lock the front door and return the key to the house whose address is on the key tag.

One last point, when bookings are made well in advance, it sometimes happens that the church finds nearer the time that it needs the premises for its own purposes. In such circumstances it reserves the right to give reasonable notice of cancellation and will do its best to accommodate an alternative booking if required.

In Addition, Regular Users are required to produce an Insurance Certificate showing that they have Public Liability Cover for the activities they are organising.  We take a copy for our records and return the Certificate, repeating the process on each annual renewal of the Certificate.  Cover can be provided through the Methodist Insurance Company if required.

Regular Uses at whose activities children or vulnerable adults are present are required to produce Disclosures for all organisers and helpers and to adhere to ‘Safeguarding Good Practice’ – the safeguarding policy of the Methodist Church. We take a copy of the Disclosures for our records and return them, repeating the process on renewal of each of the Disclosures. In addition they are required to provide a copy of their own Safeguarding Policy which will be displayed in the entrance hall alongside that of Davenham Methodist Church.

To Make a Booking they will require:
The date or dates on which you wish to use the premises
Your full name, postal address and contact telephone number
The Rooms you require, when you want them unlocked and when they can be relocked.
They then send you a formal letter confirming the booking.
This includes payment arrangements, unlocking arrangements, Ts & Cs, etc
